Mistakes are Golden

Still working hard on this showreel project. As I get near the end I realise I still have alot to learn as an animator, and that there was been hiccups that have knocked me off course in this project that I need to remember for next time.
But, mistakes are golden, and you never learn if you don't make them! In the meantime, have some life drawings from a costume session we had a few weeks back. It was a great experience and you feel even more excited to draw the model as you see the character come through.

Showreel Progress Check 4

This is where I am with the advert so far. I'm happy it's altogether and everyone has given great feedback so far. I'm still working on the animation, since we've only worked in full flowing animation I'm finding it hard to work into a snappier style similar to Tex Avery etc.

5 weeks left of this project and a hell of a lot of work to do. There will be more posts coming up as the deadline approaches so watch this space!

Fishinggg

It's been a slow 2 weeks at the moment, was feeling rather burned out so I've took a trip home and had the last weekend off to rest. This is currently where I am with the first BG of the Ad. I took aspects I liked from some of the previous designs, but put a modern spin on it using some of the tools in Illustrator.

I've got the design of the character sorted, it came to one of these 3 and I've gone with the happy chappy with the net.

This is a rough cut out in-situ to give the idea of how he sits. I'm currently doing a rough pass of animation for the ad now. Its finally coming together!

Showreel Progress Check 3

There's been a quite a change of plan since the last update.
I was originally planning on doing the two acted sequences (the human and the dog) but soon realised I've bitten off more than I can chew with the collaberation. It boiled down to not wanting to slack on scenes for a friends film, but also not lose out on my own things so to compensate, the collaberation has replaced the two acted sequences.

If you didnt know, I'm collaberating with my good friend James on his film Fishing for the Future (the animatic is within his Vimeo Sound Pitch) and working on the 50's recruitment video that begins his film. Above is the final animatic for the sequence, I've started playing around with some backgrounds for a bit just trying to get something that I'm happy with.

ALSO, the characters below aren't a definite or even a possibility in some cases, its just adding a character in to give it a better idea.

I'm heading towards something thats inbetween the first and second idea. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
